Merry Christmas
December 19, 2009
We started rehearsing for our Christmas cantata early in the month of September. So is it any wonder I'm singing most of the songs all day long? One of them is Celebrate The Gift (of Jesus). That also happens to be the name of the cantata. We performed at the Church last Sunday night and then at the Tabernacle where we live this past Friday night. What a blessing to live in a country where we are free to worship any way we choose. I gazed at the people's faces in the congregation. Most of them had smiles on their faces. Some were singing along with us. As a child growing up in Ohio, Christmas wasn't Christmas until it snowed. The presents were under the decorated tree. Grandma was busy making divinity, puffed rice balls, mints and sugar cookies. My other Grandmother went nuts, making decorations for the tree in addition to dipped chocolate cream drops and decorated sugar cookies. No wonder my cousins and I ran through the house singing and yelling. We were all on a sugar high. Today, now that I'm much older, and no longer playing with dolls, Christmas has a special meaning. I'll steal another line from the cantata. "Christmas isn't Christmas, til it's Christmas in your heart." How true is that. Christmas isn't about toys, or presents, or candy and cookies, but it's about the joy that comes in knowing the Lord. It's truly having Christmas in your heart. Merry Christmas to each and every one of you. I love you all. Thank you for making my year so special. Katt
