Don't Be Discouraged
January 8, 2009
One of the comments I hear over and over is, "I'm so discouraged." Or "do you ever think I'll ever be published?" Another comment I hear is "why do I keep writing?" If you are a writer one of the first attributes you need to develop is thick skin. Critique isn't all bad. Develop that think skin that I was talking about, and then learn from the suggestions. You also need to learn who to take advice from. You wouldn't call a plumber to sew or hang drapes in the living room. One of the most valuable tools we possess is the internet. We have a plethora of information at our fingertips. You need to arm yourself with as many resources as possible. I just bought "Writing the Breakout Novel" and the workbook. In two days I have learned more than I have in the past six months. My parting words to you are don't give up. No matter what, keep writing. One day, I'll see your name in print. That IS if you don't give up. Blessings to you my friend. Keep in touch!
